Fire damaged an abandoned structure early Wednesday near Highway 111 and the Salton Sea, according to Cal Fire.
The fire was reported at 2:25 a.m. Dec. 18 in the 99200 block of Lookout Drive near Miramar Drive in the Mecca area, Jody Hagemann of Cal Fire-Riverside County said in a statement.
Three engine crews responded and the first firefighters on scene reported "a 1500 square foot abandoned structure well-involved," Hagemann said.
The fire was contained at 3:15 a.m. Property loss was estimated at $40,000 with $20,000 saved, according to Cal Fire.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was being investigated.
