Alleged Drunk Driver Flips Truck in Rancho Mirage Crash

Police say alcohol was a factor in the crash involving a Cathedral City man.

A Cathedral City man is accused of driving while intoxicated and crashing his truck in Rancho Mirage, police said Thursday.

The alleged DUI crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, on Da Vall Drive just north of Frank Sinatra Drive, according to Sheriff's Sergeant Radek Horkel.

"The driver struck a curb and the truck overturned," Horkel said.  "The preliminary investigation revealed that alcohol was a factor during this collision."

23-year-old Hector Montano was arrested on suspicion of DUI, according to the sergeant, who added that two other people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash, but they were not hurt.  Montano, though, was hurt and had to first go to the hospital before being booked into the Indio jail, according to the sergeant.
