Hearing delayed for alleged Shadow Mountain burglar

Two of the seven televisions were recovered when investigators served a search warrant.

A bail review hearing for a 19-year-old man suspected of stealing flat-screen TV sets from seven vacant condos in Palm Desert was delayed today until Tuesday.

Omar Avila Sanchez of Coachella is accused in the July 22 residential burglaries at the Shadow Mountain Resort in the 45700 block of San Luis Rey Avenue, near Highway 111, according to Sgt. Andrew Nielsen of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Sanchez was arrested following a search warrant being served at his home, where investigators found two of the seven televisions, which are worth $1,800, Nielsen said.

Sanchez appeared in court Monday for a felony settlement conference on felony residential burglary charges at the Larson Justice Center in Indio.

Riverside County Superior Court Judge Victoria E. Cameron postponed the hearing until Tuesday at the request of the defense.

Sanchez is being held in the Indio Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
