A robber in a Ronald Reagan mask and his masked accomplice stormed a GameStop store in Palm Desert and took gaming accessories and cash, a sheriff's sergeant said Saturday.
Dispatchers received a 911 call at 8:49 p.m. Friday from the store, in a shopping center at the corner of Monterey Avenue and Dick Kelly Drive.
One of the gunmen brandished a silver semi-automatic handgun with a black grip when they stole a PS Vita console, three PlayStation Portables and an undisclosed amount of money, Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. David Wright said.
The suspects ran out of the store and around the north side of the building where they entered an older white Honda Civic. The vehicle sped off through the Wal-Mart parking lot, Wright said.
The suspects evaded capture and no one was hurt during the robbery.
One suspect was 5 feet-7 inches tall, appeared to have weighed 200 pounds and wore a Ronald Reagan face mask. He also wore a black-hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, white cloth gloves and white shoes. The suspect also brandished the handgun, Wright said.
The second suspect was Latino and weighed about 200 pounds. He was 5 feet 7 inches tall, sported short black hair and wore a clown mask. The second suspect also wore white-hooded sweatshirt, large blue jean shorts, white shoes and carried a grey duffel bag.
Sheriff's deputies asked anyone with information about the robbery to call the sheriff's Palm Desert station at 760-836-1600. Those wanting to remain anonymous can call the Valley Crime Stoppers at 760-341-7867.
