Bicyclist Struck, Killed by Car From La Quinta

A bicyclist struck and killed by a car in Palm Springs was identified Saturday as a 38-year-old La Quinta resident.

Corey Holley, 38, was pronounced dead at the scene of the 9:07 p.m.crash Friday in Palm Springs.

The crash occurred in the 1400 block of South Palm Canyon Drive, according to the Riverside County Coroner.

Holley was pronounced dead at 9:20 p.m. at the Palm Canyon Drive intersection with Avenida Palmera, coroner's officials reported.

Whenever I see people on bicycles on our busy Valley roads I think how unsafe that is. Far too many drivers are not expecting bike riders and so are not watching for them, especially these days with so many people still blatantly using cellphones while driving. My thoughts go out to this young man and his loved ones.
