An early morning burglary during a La Quinta Target store's Black Friday shopping event led to the arrest of three suspects who were found with a Ford Explorer at a Palm Desert gas station, authorities said.
Louis Ivan Fuentes, 19, of Los Angeles, a 17-year-old boy and Marvin Amezquita, 22, of Los Angeles, were arrested and booked on suspicion of burglary, authorities said.
Fuentes was additionally booked for alleged robbery, officials said.
The burglary was reported at 78935 Hwy 111 about 4:40 a.m. Friday, according to Riverside County sheriff's Sgt. Robert Bishop.
Store security personnel tried to stop the suspects but one of the three displayed a non-lethal weapon and -- as they all got into a black Ford Explorer -- suspect claimed to have a firearm, the sergeant stated in a news release.
Sheriff's deputies from La Quinta and Palm Desert, as well as California Highway Patrol officers, converged on the gas station at Country Club Drive and Washington Street and found five people, three of whom were arrested.
