Burglars Try to Steal 46 Laptops From DHS School

The break-in occurred at 3:48 a.m. today at the Cabot Yerxa Elementary School.

Two burglars trying to steal 46 Apple Laptops from a Desert Hot Springs School early today were caught and arrested, but another pair were still at large, police said.

Police were called to Cabot Yerxa Elementary School, 67067 Desert View Ave., when an alarm went off at 3:48 a.m., DHS police Sgt. Gus Paiz said.

Arriving officers saw three suspects carrying large duffel bags running from the playground and confronted the men.

The suspects dropped the bags and ran off, Paiz said.

While searching for the three men, a fourth was found hiding in a trash bin, the sergeant said.

Two men were arrested and two got away, the sergeant said.

Moreno Valley residents Joshua Ligow and Martell Turner, 20, were arrested and booked for suspicion of burglary, and taken to the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, according to police.

There was no record of Ligow in the county jail but Turner was processed at 11:45 a.m., jail records indicate.
