Canadian Woman Accused of Driving Under the Influence in Palm Desert Crash

A woman from Alberta, Canada, was involved in a crash in Palm Desert and she was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol Thursday night, a sheriff's sergeant said.

The crash was reported at 8:11 p.m. Oct. 17 on Country Club Drive and Oasis Club Drive, Sgt. David Wright of the Palm Desert station said in a statement.

"The investigation revealed that Cheryl Lee Anctil, age 55 of Alberta Canada, was driving a silver Nissan Versa eastbound on Country Club Drive when she rear-ended a white Ford Fusion at Oasis Club Drive," Wright said.

"No one was injured and there were no road closures as a result of the collision," Wright said.

Anctil was arrested and booked at Indio Jail late Thursday. She was released early Friday on $2,500 bail, according to inmate records. She has a court date in Indio in December.
