CHP: Labor Day DUI Arrests Double
Driving under the influence arrests upticked in the Coachella Valley compared to the holiday weekend last year.
DUI arrests over the Labor Day Weekend doubled compared to the same period last year, the California Highway Patrol reported today.
Nineteen people were arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence in the Coachella Valley from 4 p.m. Friday through 11:59 pm Monday. Nine were arrested over the same weekend in 2010.
Crashes were the opposite, with the CHP reporting nine collisions this weekend, and 19 the year before.

One of the accidents this past weekend resulted in a fatal injury in Thermal, while two other injury crashes were reported.
All three of the injury crashes are believed to be the result of driving under the influence, the CHP reported.
