Authorities ID College Student Killed by Deputy

Frank Tanuvasa, 20, died early Thursday at a hospital about an hour after being shot.

A College of the Desert football player who was fatally shot by sheriff's deputies in Palm Desert was identified today.

Frank Tanuvasa, 20, died early Thursday at a hospital about an hour after being shot.

Tanuvasa, who came to the desert from East High School, is from Anchorage, Ak.

He allegedly was seen fleeing a home in the 77800 Block of Michigan Drive about 12:35 a.m., according to sheriff's Deputy Angel Ramos.

A sheriff's deputy had gone to the area to investigate the report of a burglary, Ramos said.

An arriving deputy spotted a suspect running from the scene and chased him, but the suspect charged at him and struggled with the deputy, Ramos said.

The man was shot during the struggle, officials said.

Two other suspects were still at large, officials said.

He was pronounced dead about an hour later at 39000 Bob Hope Drive, in Rancho Mirage.

Deputies have been in response to drug activity on Michigan Drive.

sure he does, Mark I agree with you about YOYO baby and the other. We know what they are saying and what the letters mean. and the implied threats of violence to police by these people...But where am I being any harsher than you...oh right, you like to make up stuff about cops and be critical for no reason. I know what I am talking about, you just like to pick fights. Like I pointed out to YOYO maybe you need to get back to a meeting and relearn the 12 steps. Because I don't see anything you say as coming from the program you obviously need.
Tony Ballew March 22, 2012 at 10:16 PM
David...as someone in the 12 step program let me respectfully offer this...unless you're in the program you don't know what you're talking about.
MARK March 22, 2012 at 11:16 PM
Of course not Tony, But that did upset me. Donkey was harmless compared to the names people have called me. But one thing is true "David is a Jackass".
Tony Ballew March 22, 2012 at 11:28 PM
Mark...I wonder if David has to work at it or if it just comes naturally..
David March 22, 2012 at 11:50 PM
Tony, steps 3-12 esp. 12 since y mark has yet to apologize to jessica for a comment u urself knows to be wrong.....and it took 30yrs of dealing with people like u two to get there. Based on this I.d bet marks a mean drunk. Oh, I dont drink but lived thru my dads problems to know about drunks.
David March 23, 2012 at 04:06 AM
how about step 10-Continued to take personal inventory, and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.
David March 23, 2012 at 04:06 AM
I am sure Jessica is still waiting for a public apology.
Tony Ballew March 23, 2012 at 05:08 AM
Thank you for your opinions David.
MARK March 23, 2012 at 11:33 AM
David, i forgive you. It must be hard being YOU.
David March 23, 2012 at 07:19 PM
See tony I knew you could do it. I note the sarcasm dripping from your response but at least it is civil and sends the message without being.....well you know....what Mark says all the time.
David March 23, 2012 at 07:21 PM
Wow still can't bring yourself to do it...back to step 2. Yes it is hard being me, it's always hard to be the parent and tell the child the truth even though you know they'll throw a tantrum. good luck with your program...hope it works for you.
Tony Ballew March 24, 2012 at 09:19 PM

There are witnesses that say 3 cops murdered Tanuvasa (sp?)...and they are afraid to come forward. There is "no law" in Palm Desert and "no law" among the bureaucracy - cops are a bureaucracy. To kill someone who is unarmed is complete denial of due process. The cops are outside the law. The problem is no one understand the jurisdiction that is now taking place under which the cops work - it has nothing to do with law. Can't take the time to discuss it here. For starters, read brief "Are Cops Constitutional" @ http://constitution.org/lrev/roots/cops.htm SINCE the civil war the jurisdiction in America is military rule. No one understands this. Get help on that question, start here: http://www.hisholychurch.net/media/video/nimnow.php THE QUOTE ABOVE USING ROMANS IS TOTALLY OUT OF CONTEXT, to get understand on THAT issue, start here: http://www.hisholychurch.net/sermon/romans13.php http://www.hisholychurch.org/news/articles/Romans13s.html If you wish to support Amend 28, National Recall and Referendum then email "restoreusa@aol.com" If implemented, Amend 28 would eliminate all municipal government (military rule) in favor of common law government OF THE PEOPLE, NOT THE RULERS, through townships, precincts and common law counties. Everything changes, for the better through God's Perfect Law of Libety by faith hope and charity. 1st rule: Love your neighbor as yourself. It's that simple and VERY cheap.
Michael Smith April 20, 2012 at 02:40 AM
Dear Kim - your comment reveals lack of basic law (NOT legal system). Everyone is entitled to due process. Just "going out" somewhere is not judgment of death: U promoting. Read the newspaper articles VERY CAREFULLY with a "critically thinking mind". Something does NOT ADD UP. When U find out that witnesses saw (3) cops murder the guy, that is different story - that is OUT LAW vengeance. Read how the cops let some of the guys get away. But they decide to kill the 3rd guy. However, the 3rd guy is so big and so "stand out among the crowd" he could have easily been found later. Read article by former Ronald Reagan aide Paul C. Roberts. His argument is that the police state of America, especially the police now rival terrorists in terms of the terror they are evincing on the American people, see; http://www.tulanelink.com/stories/policebrutality_11a.htm EXCERPT: Police in the US now rival criminals, and exceed terrorists, as the greatest threat to the American public. Rogelio Serrato is the latest case to be in the news of an innocent person murdered by the police. Serrato was the wrong man, but the Monterey County, California, SWAT team killed the 31-year old father of four and left the family home a charred ruin. For nfo on Amend 28, National Recall & eferendum designedo de-municipalize America (undo ilitary jurisdiction) in favor of a Godly (based on love) common law reorganization into townships, precincts and common law counties, contact "restoreusa@aol.com"

David, you have a totally incorrect interpretation of Romans 13. This is correct: (from: http://www.hisholychurch.net/sermon/romans13.php) EXCERTP: Father and not other gods of men8. What would happen if we take the word 'exousia' and translate it "liberty" as we see in 1 Corinthians 8:9 and place it where we find exousia in other of Paul's writings: “Let every soul be subject unto the higher liberty. For there is no liberty but of God: the liberties that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth (opposes) the liberty, resisteth (opposes) the ordinance of God: and they that resist (sets one's self against) shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the liberty? Do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same.” Romans 13: 1,3

Thanks Candace ....I think
Tony Ballew April 20, 2012 at 04:16 AM
I DO think a two month investigation into the police officers ' actions is a little long

Please support the JUSTICE FOR FRANK TANUVASA COMMITTEE. 100 volunteers are needed to ralley at the police dept and demand justice. 100 volunteers are needed to ralley at the Indio Court house and demand justice. 100 volunteers are needed to ralley at the Indio D.A. office and demand justice. The committee fully expects the officers who murdered Frank Tanuvasa to be fired and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Since the Palm Desert Police Dept. now believes it can willy-nilly kill citizens and get away with it, we demand the complete disarming of all police officers in Palm Desert: absolutely NO GUNS. If the City Council refuses to disarm the police, 100 volunteers are needed to start recall elections against ALL city councilmen. IF you do nothing, things will get worse and worse in Palm Desert, this is just the tip of the iceberg and the beginning of absolute police state tyranny in Palm Desert. Can't appreciate what you are reading? Read Brief on ARE COPS CONSTITUTIONAL: http://constitution.org/lrev/roots/cops.htm Read writings and interview of Paul Craig Roberts, former aide to Ronald Reagan: (1) http://www.tulanelink.com/stories/policebrutality_11a.htm and (2) http://www.lewrockwell.com/roberts/roberts224.html EMAIL restoreusa@aol.com to join the JUSTICE FOR FRANK TANUVASA COMMITTEE

No one murdered frank, he died trying to murder an officer, and I think if the truth hit you square in the mouth you would still be spouting your BS. There are no witnesses and no one is afraid of the cops here because there is nothing to fear unless you try to kill some one, like a cop or innocent citizen. Quit trying to ride the coat tails of the Martin case, aint gonna happen. Nothing to see here.
David April 20, 2012 at 06:42 AM
Smith you need to use some critical thinking, Kim didn't cite the law she cited common sense, if they are not out committing crimes or don't try to kill a cop when they get caught they don't then get killed and jailed.
Tony Ballew April 20, 2012 at 06:58 AM
David...do you know something we don't? Do you have access to the official investigation? Does it day the dead kid was trying to murder ( your word) the deputy? If it says all that, then you're accurate. If you don't have access to the empirical evidence, then you're talking out your ass. Still.
Tony Ballew April 20, 2012 at 07:00 AM
Say not day...sorry

DAVID 1 of 2: DAVID - 1. I don't KNOW he died trying to murder an officer. All of the info being promoted sounds very phony. 2. Your backing of a military dictatorship in America shows your colors. The law is the people governing themselves, not being ruled over by a municipal (military dictatorship) ruling elite. In a republic, ALL the people share EQUALLY in the administration of government and there is NO 3RD PARTY. A 3rd party is a legislature of lawyers, making laws in defiance of God, imposing statute law upon you by force (through violence and threats of violence) and using paid mercenaries (police, sheriff, and highway patrol) to force you into submission to the ruling elite. The people who originally CAME to America knew this and knew that ONLY a republic is a lawful form of government. It has been changed into a democracy (demonocracy) to allow the ruling elite to plunder ALL the wealth of the people through the phony banking system. The police are the vehicle used to impose this tyranny. You need to STUDY (not just read) this link, Republic vs. Democracy: http://www.hisholychurch.net/study/gods/cog7rvd.php You need to listen/view this video over and over: REPUBLIC http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OplmP0T8v0U

DAVID 1 of 2: An interview with Brother Gregory, a minister of His Church. Discussing republics and where the original American republic has gone. REPUBLIC http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OplmP0T8v0U SUPPORT AMEND 28, a national referendum and recall: abolish all municipalities and military rule in favor of townships, precincts and common law counties under God's perfect law of liberty through faith hope and charity: law number one: love your neighbor as yourself America is a nation of overwhelming sinners, all coveting each other's wealth, and we are going down the tubes fast. Study monetized debt banking, that can only end in complete economic collapse. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UG5sp5bCpSc

Oh boy the 12 step program is just as bid a joke as the religion it is rooted in. Yes I have been It's a bloody joke NO responsibility at all in NA or AA. boowho I am nothing without bible god or jebus fail-minus >.< FACT: THE ONLY THING that statistically aides and addict is the education on harmful outcomes created within ones' body. period. The fact that our Judicial system "offers" or forces these programs as a "out" in regard to actual detention (which is also A MORAL FAILURE by our society to put human animals who AREN'T violent in lock up because we've allowed this medical issue to be criminalized) ~da #%ck~ it's a medical condition**addiction**)
