Council Offers $10,000 Reward For Arrest, Conviction In El Paseo Crime Wave

There have been as many as six commercial burglaries in the high-end shopping district since January.

The Palm Desert City Council Thursday night allocated $10,000 in reward money for an arrest and conviction in the crime wave that has struck the city since the beginning of the year.

In a 5-0 vote, the council approved the reward for the capture of the "people that were breaking into the stores on El Paseo,'' Councilman Bob Spiegel said.

"We have to tell our merchants that we are suportive of them and will do everything we can to help them,” Spiegel said.
