Three Arrested In Palm Desert Robbery Following High Speed Chase

The 45-minute pursuit led deputies to a residential area of Moreno Valley, following the robbery of a Palm Desert jewelry store.

Three suspected robbers of a Palm Desert jewelry store were arrested today following a nearly 45-minute high speed pursuit that ended in Moreno Valley, a sheriff’s deputy said.

The robbery was reported at 3:48 p.m. Friday at in the 73000 block of El Paseo, according to Riverside County Sheriff’s Deputy Angel Ramos.

Three men entered the store and one of the suspects allegedly took out a weapon, took some jewelry and fled in a red vehicle, Ramos said.

A deputy spotted the suspect vehicle on Cook Street and gave chase, he said.

Deputies pursued the suspects on Interstate 10 to Highway 60, where the suspect vehicle exited on Heacock Street and the men took off on foot in a neighborhood just before 5 p.m., he said.

Three men were taken into custody with the help of a sheriff's helicopter, Ramos said.

One of the suspects fought with officers, but they were not hurt, the deputy said.

The pursuit lasted up to 45 minutes, and reached speeds up to 100 mph.

The California Highway Patrol, the Gang Task Force and units from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department Cabazon Station, Moreno Valley Station and the Riverside County Sheriff's Department air unit assisted in the chase.
