Deputy Injured In Palm Desert Crash

The crash was reported at 3:15 p.m. on Cook Street, prompting deputies to close the northbound side of the street between Green Way and Hovely Lane.

A motorcyle officer suffered major injuries today in a crash on Cook Street in Palm Desert.

The crash was reported at 3:15 p.m. on the busy street near St. James, according to Corp. Courtney Donowho of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

The deputy was apparently responding to reports of in a nearby neighborhood when his motorcycle was struck by a truck, Donowho said.

"The male officer sustained major injuries in the collision and has been transported to a local hospital for treatment," Donowho said. 

Northbound Cook Street was shut down between Green Way and St. James Place for the investigation.

Was that the same officer that got his motorcycle backed into? Man got some bad luck. Hope you get better. Yes, i really mean it! Motorcycle Cops got a tough job. Not very much between the Truck and the motorcycle. Takes alot of guts! get well
