Deputy Injured In Palm Desert Crash

The crash was reported at 3:15 p.m. on Cook Street, prompting deputies to close the northbound side of the street between Green Way and Hovely Lane.

A motorcyle officer suffered major injuries today in a crash on Cook Street in Palm Desert.

The crash was reported at 3:15 p.m. on the busy street near St. James, according to Corp. Courtney Donowho of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

The deputy was apparently responding to reports of in a nearby neighborhood when his motorcycle was struck by a truck, Donowho said.

"The male officer sustained major injuries in the collision and has been transported to a local hospital for treatment," Donowho said. 

Northbound Cook Street was shut down between Green Way and St. James Place for the investigation.
