Driver Hospitalized in Palm Desert Hit and Run Crash

Police say that a person was hospitalized following a hit and run crash in the area of Oasis Club and Country Club Drive.

A hit-and-run driver apparently had a chance of heart after leaving the scene of a Palm Desert crash, police report.

The crash happened Wednesday morning in the area of Oasis and Country Club Drives, when a truck driver slammed into a hatchback.

"The driver of the Dodge pick-up collided with the rear bumper of the PT Cruiser and fled the scene," sheriff's Sergeant Dave Adams said.  "The driver of the PT Cruiser was transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries."

Sheriff's Corporal Angel Ramos tells Patch that Maltbie was not arrested, but that doesn't mean that charges won't be filled out of custody.

"The investigation is ongoing," he said.

"Based on the preliminary investigation, it does not appear drugs or alcohol was involved," Adams added.

Adams also asked that anyone who may have witnessed the crash contact the officer investigating the case, but calling 760-836-1600 or Valley Crime Stoppers at 760-341-STOP.  Tips can remain anonymous.
