DUI Accident Causes Highway 74 Business Damage

Single vehicle accident knocks over light pole and tears up landcaping near parking lot and businesses

A 21-year old Indio woman was arrested on suspicion of DUI overnight after her vehicle went up a curb and into a light pole on Highway 74 near Monterey Avenue. 

According to Riversdie County Sheriff's Sergeant Dan Devinny, Beatriz Palencia Flores was turning from westbound El Paseo to northbound 74 at about 2:10 a.m.  Palencia Flores lost control of her vehicle, completely crossing 74 and hitting a light pole in an adjacent parking lot.  

Palencia Flores was not injured and was booked into Indio Jail on misdemeanor DUI with bail set at $2,500.
