DUI Checkpoint Planned This Weekend in Palm Desert

Sheriff's officials announced Tuesday an upcoming driver's license/DUI checkpoint for the city of Palm Desert.

The sobriety checkpoint is scheduled for Friday, August 16 from 7 p.m. through 3 a.m. Saturday, according to sheriff's Sgt. Dave Adams.

"In an effort to reduce the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol involved crashes, DUI checkpoints are conducted to identify offenders and get them off the street, as well as educate the public on the dangers of impaired driving," he said.

Funding is provided via a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, according to Adams.
