DUI Checkpoint Scheduled Tonight in Palm Desert

Police look to crackdown on drunk drivers with checkpoint later this evening.

Palm Desert police will hold a DUI and driver's license checkpoint Friday in Palm Desert.

The checkpoint is set for tonight from 9:00p.m. to 3:00 a.m. Saturday, according to Sgt. Dave Adams of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, which contracts with Palm Desert for its policing services.

The location was not released.

The checkpoint is aimed toreduce the number of people  killed and injured in alcohol involved crashes, Adams said.

The public is encouraged to help keep our roadways safe by calling 911 if they see a suspected impaired driver.

Funding for this operation is provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
