A 57-year-old La Quinta woman suffered injuries when her crossover vehicle slammed into a tree, a Riverside County sergeant said.
The crash was reported on Madison Street, near Via Puerta Azul in La Quinta, about 5:30 p.m., according to Sgt. Robert Castro.
Deputies determined the white Acura MDX was heading south on Madison when the driver failed to negotiate a turn into the housing development and struck the tree, Castro said in a news release.
At the hospital, investigators learned that Susan Merchant Pressler was impaired by alcohol or drugs, the sergeant said. Because of her injuries she was not taken into custody.
The case will be submitted to the District Attorney's office for prosecution, Castro wrote.
