More than 100 members of the Coachella Valley Chapter of Community Associations Institute attended a luncheon Friday to hear about "Earth, Wind, Fire and Disaster Management" from Idyllwild's fire chief, who focused on the devastating Mountain and Silver fires, at Palm Valley Country Club in Palm Desert.

Chief Patrick Reitz of Idyllwild Fire Protection District appeared Sept. 13 on a panel with Terry Huggins, a property field claims specialist with Precision Risk Management of Cypress, and Leonard Siegel, an attorney with the Sherman Oaks firm Kulik, Gottesman & Siegel.

There were about 140 CAI members in attendance, event coordinator Carol Fulton said.

The Coachella Valley Chapter of Community Associations Institute is part of an international non-profit organization dedicated to education and advocacy of common-interest developments.

The Community Associations Institute was formed in 1973 to distribute guidance on homeowner associations and shared facilities in condominiums, cluster housing, planned unit developments and open space communities, according to its website.

The Coachella Valley Chapter was founded in 1981 and currently has over 500 members, according to its website. For more info visit www.coachellavalleycai.org.
