Gunmen Rob El Paseo Jewelry Store

The robbers fled west on El Paseo in a white four-door Honda Accord with tinted rear windows.

Two masked gunmen robbed this morning in Palm Desert, a sheriff's deputy said.

The robbery was reported just after 11 a.m. in the 73600 block of El Paseo, according to Deputy Angel Ramos of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

"Two male adults with rifles ordered everyone to the ground,'' Ramos said.

The robbers fled west on El Paseo in a white four-door Honda Accord with tinted rear windows, Ramos said. The car had been reported stolen, and was found abandoned on San Pascal Avenue later in the afternoon.

Witnesses told KESQ.com at least one shot was fired during the robbery, but it was not immediately clear if the gun went off inside or outside the store.

No injuries were reported.

The suspects were described as thin and about 5 feet 10 inches tall. Both were wearing dark-colored masks and dark-colored clothing, Ramos said.

This is the the high end jewelry store has been robbed this year.
