A woman hiker was airlifted to a hospital Sunday when she became weak and exhausted during a morning climb along a mountain trail above Rancho Mirage, a fire official said.
The 50-year-old woman called fire officials sortly before 8:40 a.m., and told them she could not go on with her hike on the Bump & Grind Trail, Cal Fire/Riverside County fire information officer Melody Hendrickson said.
Cal Fire Copter 301's crew airlifted her to a local hospital in moderate condition, Hendrickson wrote in a prepared release.
