A brush fire in Coachella Saturday scorched 2.5 acres of dense and high vegetation but no injuries were reported.
The cause of the blaze -- on the east side of Highway 86, near Avenue 50, was under investigation, Cal Fire/Riverside County fire officials said.
The blaze -- it burned in fuel as high as 10 feet to 12 feet -- was reported at 8:01 p.m., information officer Jody Hagemann said.
It was contained at 9:18 p.m., Hagemann reported.
Firefighters remained on scene for two more hours to mop up any hot spots, officials said.
