A Christmas night fire in La Quinta scorched a home and displaced a family of five but no one was injured, officials said.
The blaze at the 3,000-square-foot home in the 79800 block of Dandelion Drive was reported at 8:58 p.m., according to Cal Fire/Riverside County fire information officer Melody Hendrickson.
Arriving firefighters saw smoke and flames coming from the back of the house, Hendrickson reported.
Red Cross was called to assist the residents with temporary shelter and other needs, Hendrickson said.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation.
