Fire Severely Damages Palm Desert Home

A fire broke Monday night in a Palm Desert neighborhood and caused an estimated $300,000 damage to a two-story family home, according to Cal Fire.

"Three nearby residential structures were initially threatened, but saved due to aggressive firefighter action," Melody Hendrickson of Cal Fire-Riverside County said in a statement.

The fire was reported at 7:59 p.m. Dec. 9 in the 77500 block of Alcot Circle, just east of Palm Desert Resort and Country Club, according to Hendrickson.

Ten engine companies with 37 firefighters responded.

"The first arriving engine company reported a well-established fire showing through the roof of a two-story single family residence," Hendrickson said.

"The Incident Commander reported that the fire was contained at approximately 9:17 p.m. with major damage to the structure," Hendrickson said. "The loss was estimated at approximately $300,000 with an approximate save of $100,000."

Agencies that responded included Coachella Valley Water District and Southern California Edison.

No injuries were reported. Information about the cause was not released by Cal Fire.
