Firefighters Called Out to Rescue Dehydrated Woman

Firefighters were called out to rescue a dehydrated woman Wednesday morning near Dillon Road in Indio, according to Cal Fire.

A call for help was received about 9:45 a.m. Sept. 4 from an area two miles west of Dillon Road and Brack Road, Mark Annas of Cal Fire-Riverside County said in a statement.

Annas described the incident as "a remote area rescue." Asked for more detail, he said the woman was out walking when she became dehydrated.

The female patient was driven out of the area by firefighters and assessed on-scene, Annas said. An ambulance crew took her to an area hospital for further treatment.

A recorded high for Wednesday in the Indio area was 100 between 11 a.m. and noon, and it was 91 degrees Fahrenheit by 9 a.m. Sept. 4, National Weather Service meteorologist Stephen Harrison said in a phone interview.
