Firefighters, Helicopter Crew Attack Wildland Blaze East of Monroe

More than 40 firefighters and a helicopter crew responded to a wildland fire Thursday in the area of Jackson north of Avenue 60, according to Cal Fire.

The fire was reported at 11:14 a.m. Jan. 23 east of Monroe with multiple palm trees and two acres on fire, Melody Hendrickson of Cal Fire-Riverside County said in a statement.

Thirteen engine companies responded along with California Highway Patrol personnel in Airship H-60, Hendrickson said.

Firefighters were expected to be committed to the scene for three to five hours, Hendrickson said.
