Heavyset Man Robs El Paseo Bank

No injuries were reported and no weapon was seen in the robbery.

A Palm Desert bank was robbed late this afternoon, and deputies were searching for the heavyset bandit, a sheriff's corporal said.

The robbery was reported around 4:45 p.m. Wednesday at in the 39000 block of Washington Street, sheriff's Cpl. Courtney Donowho said.

No injuries were reported and no weapon was seen.

The suspect handed a teller a demand note and escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash.

He was last seen running south through the parking lot toward Varner Road, Donowho said.

He was described as white or Hispanic, 5-foot-10 to 6 feet tall and 30 to 40 years old, wearing a gray shirt over a white long-sleeve undershirt, black pants and a Dodger baseball cap.
