Helicopter Hoists Injured Hiker To Safety

The 42-year-old man was hiking on an unmaintained trail when he fell above Indian Wells Friday.

A hiker injured his shoulder in a fall today and had to be hoisted by a Cal Fire helicopter to safety, a fire official said.

The 42-year-old man called for help about 11 a.m. from the Eisenhower Mountain Trail behind the Eldorado Country Club in Indian Wells, according to Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Fire Department.

A Cal Fire helicopter lifted the man, who suffered a minor shoulder injury, to safety, Hagemann said.
