Hiker Rescued On Bump and Grind

The woman injured her ankle and was taken to a local hospital, according to firefighters.

A woman was injured while hiking this morning on the Bump and Grind Trail in Palm Desert, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Firefighters hiked in to get to reach the woman, who injured her ankle, said Jody Hagemann, a department spokeswoman.

Cal Fire helicopter 301 hoisted her from the trail, and she was flown to a hospital for treatment, Hagemann said.

Blaine Carian, who saw the rescue, said the woman did not appear seriously hurt.

"When I walked by her, she was sitting up and they (firefighters) had an inflatable cast on her ankle,'' Carian said.
