Hiker Rescued from La Quinta Trail, Hospitalized

A hiker with an injured lower leg was airlifted from a La Quinta trail Thursday.

Firefighters were dispatched to Bear Creek Oasis Trail near Calle Tecate and Avenida Ramirez shortly about 11:20 a.m. and hiked about two miles from the trailhead to get to the injured woman, Melody Hendrickson of the Riverside County Fire Department said.

The woman was airlifted by a helicopter and taken to a hospital by ambulance with minor injuries, she said.

This happened at the other end of Tecate, nowhere near Ramirez.....and the woman was ambulanced only to the street, where her companions drove her away.
