Indian Wells Accident Ends with Arrest in PD

San Diego man arrested for suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run

Indian Wells Police had to travel into Palm Desert to arrest a driver believed to be involved in a hit-and-run accident Monday night.

Police arrested Alberto Alvarez, 40, from San Diego on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run.

According to Sgt. Brad Farwell, Alvarez and another vehicle were driving eastbound on Highway 111 at Indian Wells Lane at about 8:50 p.m., when Alvarez' Ford Expedition changed lanes, sideswiping another vehicle.  Farwell says that Alvarez originally stopped following the incident, but then took off at a high rate of speed.
