Indian Wells Accident Ends with Arrest in PD

San Diego man arrested for suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run

Indian Wells Police had to travel into Palm Desert to arrest a driver believed to be involved in a hit-and-run accident Monday night.

Police arrested Alberto Alvarez, 40, from San Diego on suspicion of DUI and hit-and-run.

According to Sgt. Brad Farwell, Alvarez and another vehicle were driving eastbound on Highway 111 at Indian Wells Lane at about 8:50 p.m., when Alvarez' Ford Expedition changed lanes, sideswiping another vehicle.  Farwell says that Alvarez originally stopped following the incident, but then took off at a high rate of speed.

Police later located the damaged Ford in the City of Palm Desert, where they arrested Alvarez.

Indian Wells Police and Palm Desert Police are both staffed by Riverside County Sheriff's Deputies.

Impound vehicle, add repair costs to the offender's fines and put vehicle to auction. Money to the county...
