Indio Bank Robber Sought: Man Gave Teller Demand Note

Law enforcement were looking for a man who reportedly used a demand note to rob a bank in Indio on Thursday.

The robbery at California Bank & Trust in the 81-700 block of Highway 111 was reported about 2:45 p.m. Jan. 9, according to Ben Guitron of the Indio Police Department.

The robber handed a teller a note demanding money, and the teller complied. No weapon was seen and no one was injured, Guitron said.

The suspect exited with an undisclosed amount of cash, and may have left in an older-model gray sedan, possibly a Ford Escort, Guitron said.

The suspect was described as 25 to 35 years old, about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 150-160 pounds. He was wearing a vertically striped, light blue long-sleeve dress shirt, a blue baseball cap with a white capital I on the front, khaki pants and white tennis shoes.

Anyone with more information on the robbery was urged to call police at (760) 391-4057 or Coachella Valley Crime Stoppers at (760) 341-7867.
