An Interstate 10 overcrossing will be dedicated to the memory of a fallen California Highway Patrol officer killed on Thanksgiving Day, 1987.
The ceremony will take place Nov. 26, the anniversary of Mark T. Taylor's death.
The officer had just stopped a motorist on eastbound I-10, west of the Date Palm Drive overcrossing, and was contacting the driver when he was struck by another vehicle, according to CHP information officer Joseph Zagorski.
That overcrossing will be renamed the Mark Thomas Taylor Memorial Overcrossing at a sign unveiling ceremony slated for 11 a.m., at the CHP Indio station, 79-650 Varner Road, Zagorski wrote in a news release.
