Three men accused of robbing a high end jewelry store on El Paseo before leading police on a more than 50-mile high speed chase last week used a fake gun, according to a sheriff's sergeant.
Zaque Xavier Sykes, 27, Joshua Marquise Madison, 18, both of Compton, and Brandon Christian King, 20, of Los Angeles, are accused in the July 1 robbery of .
A 16-year-old boy from Compton also accused in the robbery was booked into Juvenile Hall.
The three men allegedly entered the store, and one of the men pulled out a weapon -- which turned out to be a replica -- and took some jewelry, according to a sheriff's official. The men took off in a red vehicle, which was spotted a short distance away by a sheriff's deputy.
The driver did not pull over, leading to a high speed chase that last 45 minutes and spanned more than 50 miles.
The men reportedly ditched the vehicle in Moreno Valley and were taken into custody following a foot pursuit.
Investigators believe they have recovered all of the stolen jewelry and the fake weapon, according to Sgt. David Florez.
They are due in court as early as Thursday.
