Man Accused in Hit-and-run Chase to Return to Court

The man accused in a stolen vehicle chase that ended with a injury hit and run in Palm Desert returns to court today.

Joshua Bartel, charged with multiple felonies from an injury hit-and-run in Palm Desert last month, will be in an Indio courtroom  today for a pre-trial hearing.

The Cathedral City resident is facing charges is hit and run with injury, taking a vehicle without owners consent, and recieving a stolen vehicle.

On May 11th, Riverside County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a two-car collison at the intersection of Park View Drive and Joshua Road.  One of the drivers left the scene on foot, jumping a wall and heading into a residential neighborhood.  It was discovered the vehicle the driver fled from was reported stolen out of La Quinta earlier that day.

According to Sgt. Brad Farwell, a perimeter was established, and with help from helicopter and canine units, Bartel was found in an unoccupied house on Joshua Road in Rancho Mirage. 

Bartel remains in custody with bail set at $25,000.
