J-Tree Man Accused of Robbing La Quinta Bank

A Joshua Tree man was arrested Sunday on suspicion of robbing a US Bank location in La Quinta eight days earlier, a sheriff's sergeant said.

The robbery was reported at 1:39 p.m. Saturday Nov. 9 at 78-345 Hwy 111 in La Quinta, according to the Sheriff's Department.

"The investigation revealed a male suspect entered the business, and approached the bank teller," La Quinta police Sgt. Mike Tapp said in a statement. "The suspect stated he had a gun, and demanded money. The suspect fled the area on foot with an undisclosed amount of money. Nobody was injured during the incident."

On Nov. 17, deputies from the Morongo Basin Station in San Bernardino County detained a man at 5741 Primrose Drive in Yucca Valley, Tapp said.

"The subject was wanted for armed robbery that occurred at US Bank in La Quinta," Tapp said.

Investigators from the Thermal Station in Riverside County responded and identified the man as Harold Henry Ghaemmaghami, 50, of Joshua Tree, Tapp said.

Ghaemmaghami was booked on suspicion of robbery at Indio Jail, where he remained behind bars Monday, according to inmate records. His bail was listed at $35,000.
