La Quinta Man Jailed in Connection to Stabbing Attack

Sean Edward Patton is accused of stabbing another man in the back "several times" during a fight in Coachella, sheriff's officials said.

A La Quinta man who is suspected of stabbing someone in the back after they got into a fight was behind bars Thursday.

22-year-old Sean Edward Patton was locked up in the Indio jail following his Wednesday arrest, jail records indicate.

Patton was arrested in connection with the attack that occurred about 11:30 p.m. Tuesday in a home in the 84700 block of Avenue 52, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

"During the altercation, the suspect stabbed the victim on the back and fled prior to officers arriving," a sheriff's department press release said.

However, Patton apparently had a change of heart and returned to the location Wednesday morning, where he surrendered to investigators, the release indicated.

He was booked on assault with a deadly weapon charges.
