Lasby Returns to Court Today

A felony settlement conference is set for this morning

A Palm Desert woman charged with the death of her 2-month-old daughter will appear in an Indio courtroom this morning.

Amanda Lasby, 25, of Palm Desert has pleaded not guilty to charges of murder, assaulting a child causing great bodily injury and willful child cruelty stemming from her daughter's March 30, 2011 death.

Lasby was arrested Friday, Sept. 30, 2011 at a home on Ocotillo Drive near Grapevine Street in Palm Desert after a coroner's report showed the child’s injuries were consistent with abuse, said Sgt. Mike Lujan of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

The forensic evidence revealed that the cause of death was attributed to blunt force trauma, Lujan said.

Lasby is being held at the Indio Jail in lieu of $1 million bail.

Hope they throw the book at her and finish wasting tax dollars on her. No wonder the state is in financial crisis--people like her and the DA are part of the problem. If they would just give'em the old 1,2,3 and finish with it then a multitude of tax dollars could be allocated to more important causes such as education, etc.
