Leeds and Sons Robbery Gang Related

Three Los Angeles County men are due back in court in August.

The robbery of an upscale Palm Desert jewelry store was gang related, according to prosecutors, who have filed additional charges against three Los Angeles-area men suspected in the heist.

Zaque Xavier Sykes, 27, Joshua Marquise Madison, 18, both of Compton, and Brandon Christian King, 20, of Los Angeles, already faced charges of robbery, second degree burglary and evading arrest in the July 1 robbery of .

They now face sentence enhancing allegations of committing a felony for the benefit of a criminal street gang. The name of the gang was not immediately available.

Madison is charged with an additional count of participating in a criminal street gang.

The new charges were filed Friday by Deputy District Attorney Gypsy Yeager. Riverside County Superior Court Judge John J. Ryan ordered the men to return to court on Aug. 9 for a felony settlement conference.

A 16-year-old boy was also arrested on suspicion of the robbery, but information on him was limited because of his age.

All the jewelry was recovered following a more than 50-mile high speed chase that ended in Moreno Valley, according to a sheriff's official.

The men allegedly used a replica gun during the robbery, during which no one was hurt.
