Palm Desert-based attorney Walter Clark will again offer free taxi rides for restaurant and bar patrons who drink too much.
The "Safe Ride Home" program will be offered from 6 p.m. Sunday July 3 through 2 a.m. Monday, July 4, and from 6 p.m. Monday, July 4 through 2 a.m. Tuesday, July 5.
“This program is about keeping ourselves, our families, and our fellow drivers safe, in addition to being responsible citizens in society by making smart decisions,'' Clark said. "This gives people a choice to do the right thing and keep the weekend’s events celebratory, not tragic.”
Requests for the taxi rides have to be placed by staff from the restaurant or bar.
Three local taxi companies will provide partiers with rides home, which have a one-way, 15-mile limit. The passenger will be responsible for the tipping the driver.
Rides will not be provided from one business or bar to another.
