A Palm Desert man was arrested today on suspicion of discharing a firearm, striking his television, a sergeant said.
Daniel Brockman, 43, was taken into custody just before 3 p.m. on suspicion of discharging a firearm and violating a restraining order, according to Sgt. Brad Farwell of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.
Deputies responded at 2:35 p.m. to a home in the 73900 block of Rancho Road to a report of a family disturbance, and that Brockman was drunk, making threats and possibly armed with a firearm.
Arriving deputies formed a perimeter around the residence, and attempts were made through phone calls to reach him, Farwell said.
When Brockman did not come out of the home, deputies heard a gunshot from inside the home and deputies burst inside, the sergeant said.
"Entry was made into the residence and Brockman was taken into custody," Farwell said. "It was discovered Brockman had access to numerous firearms inside the residence and had fired one round of ammunition through his television set."
Anyone with information about this incident was asked to call the Palm Desert Sheriff's Station at 760-836-1600.
