Man Hospitalized After Being Hit With an Object From Behind

A man was hospitalized with stable vital signs after he was struck from behind by a woman with an unknown object that caused him to bleed heavily from his upper body, a Cathedral City police sergeant said Sunday.

The attack reportedly occurred at about 7:30 p.m. Saturday in the 68200 block of Ramon Road, said Cathedral City police Sgt. Jon Enos.

"CCPD Officers arrived on-scene and located the victim, a 53 year-old male resident of Cathedral City, bleeding heavily from his upper body," Enos said. "Information obtained by the officers indicated the victim was in the 68300 block of Ramon Road speaking with a friend when he was struck with an unknown object from behind." The victim fled on foot.

Cathedral City Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to a hospital where his vital signs were listed as stable, the sergeant said.

The suspect was described as a Hispanic woman, about 30 years old, 5 feet 5 inches tall, 190 pounds, with brown hair, wearing a flower print shirt and white pants, last seen running west on Ramon Road.

"Officers conducted an extensive area search for the suspect but were unable to locate her," Enos said.
