Man Hospitalized Following Cut-and-Rescue Crash in Mountain Center

The person was driving on Highway 243 south of Palm Desert when he crashed Monday, according to fire officials.

A man was hospitalized Wednesday afternoon after being cut from his car by emergency personnel, officials said.

The unidentified person was driving along Highway 243 in the Mountain Center area when he crashed Wednesday morning around 8 a.m., according to Melody Hendrickson of the Riverside County Fire Department.

Firefighters responded and used the jaws of life to extract the man from his vehicle, reports indicated.

He was then taken by helicopter to a local hospital with injuries described as moderate, according to Hendrickson.  No other vehicles were involved.
