A 54-year-old motorcycle rider who took a curve too fast and crashed in the Sky Valley area today was taken to a hospital with what a California Highway Patrol officer called major injuries.
The accident on Thousand Palms Canyon Road, south of Dillon Road, occurred about 1:30 p.m., CHP Officer Mike Radford said.
The accident occurred "due to the motorcycle's unsafe speed while traveling in a curve" and the Kawasaki he was riding went off the west side of the road, he said.
The injured rider was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center, Radford said.
