Near Drowning Victim Recovering

The toddler nearly drowned in a Palm Desert pool Sunday and was rushed to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs.

A child who nearly drowned at a Palm Desert home's pool remained hospitalized Monday, a sheriff's deputy said.

The youngster was recovering at Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs, according to Deputy Angel Ramos of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department, which contracts with Palm Desert for its policing services.

Riverside County firefighters received a report of a child not breathing at 3:19 p.m. Sunday from a home at 74450 Falcon Lane in Palm Desert.

The toddler, whose age and gender was not released, was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, according to fire spokeswoman Jody Hagemann.

How the child fell into the pool was being investigated by sheriff's deputies, Hagemann said.
