No Death Penalty Sought for Alcala
Man accused in a a double shooting in Palm Desert will not be facing the death penalty according the the DA's office.
Prosecutors will not be seeking the death penalty against Juan Carlos Alcala, accused of a double homicide in Palm Desert last year.
Deputy District Attorney Manny Bustamante made the announcement this morning at a felony settlement hearing before Riverside County Superior Court Judge Victoria Cameron.
There will also be a change in representation for Alcala, as Riverside County supervising Public Defender William Belden announced a new defense attorney will be appointed.
