One Arrested and Nine Cited at Checkpoint on Jefferson
Deputies arrested one motorist and cited nine other people at a checkpoint staged late Saturday and early Sunday at Jefferson Street and Avenue 52, a sheriff's corporal said.
An estimated total of 486 vehicles were screened at the checkpoint between 7 p.m. Dec. 21 and 3 a.m. Dec. 22, Cpl. Don Olson of the Thermal Station said.
"At 12:01 a.m., Dora Uribe, 47 years, of Thermal entered the checkpoint," Olson said. "Investigating officers determined Uribe's license was suspended for driving under the influence. Uribe was detained and further investigation revealed Uribe had a warrant for assault with a deadly weapon. Uribe was booked into the Riverside County jail in Indio."
Nine people were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or while suspended/revoked, Olson said.
La Quinta deputies are planning a DUI Saturation Patrol on Dec. 27, Olson said.
