One Killed, One Hospitalized in Palm Desert Crash Monday

One man died and another person was hospitalized Monday afternoon in a crash along Highway 74 in Palm Desert, fire officials report.

The crash was reported around 1:30 p.m. on Highway 74 at Shadow Mountain Way, according to Jody Hagemann of the Riverside County Fire Department.

At 1:55 p.m., on-scene paramedics confirmed the death of one adult male, Hagemann said.

"Another patient in a second vehicle will be transported to an area hospital by Riverside County Paramedics for treatment of moderate injuries," she said.

Fire reports indicate that one person had been trapped inside their vehicles, but it wasn't immediately clear which person that was.

Sheriff's officials tell Patch that deputies were at the site investigating the collision.
