One Person Killed in Desert Hot Springs Fire

One person died in a fire at a Desert Hot Springs residence Tuesday, a county fire department spokesman said.

The blaze was reported around 8:30 a.m. at an 800-square-foot residence in the 66200 block of Pierson Boulevard. 

It was contained about 15 minutes later, Riverside County Fire Department spokesman Mark Annas said.

The house was thought to be vacant, though transients have been spotted going inside, neighbors told The Desert Sun.
