Palm Desert Gas Station Attendant Held Up at Gunpoint

Police say the ampm clerk was held up early Tuesday morning at the gas station convenience store on Varner.

Police are asking for the public's help in tracking down a man suspected of an armed hold-up at a Palm Desert gas station.

Riverside County Sheriff's Sergeant A. Elders says the robbery happened just before 2 a.m. at the ampm gas station convenience store at 78355 Varner Road, near Washington Street.

"The suspect brandished a handgun at the clerk and demanded money," Elders said.  "The suspect then fled the area."

It wasn't immediately disclosed how many the man got away with.

The suspect, who was wearing a beanie hat and had his face covered, was described by Sgt. Elders as follows:

  • approximately 5'-08"
  • 170 pounds 
  • in his 30's
